As chiropractors, we’ve all dreamed of a way to streamline our documentation process without losing the human side of care. I didn’t become a chiropractor to chase my tail with SOAP notes or wrestle with EHRs. I became one to help people heal. But the administrative demands of practice have a way of creeping in and staying.

Rheo changed that.

When I first experienced Rheo, I had a moment. “This is cool,” I thought. “The dream became reality.”

From cautious curiosity to confidence

Like many of us, I was skeptical at first. I’ve got a server-based setup and use iPads in my treatment rooms, which made it a bit tricky to test Rheo the way it was designed to run. But that turned out to be a good thing.

It gave me the chance to ease in. I started by writing notes on paper during a new patient exam, then sat down later to dictate them into Rheo to see how it would process the information. I was amazed.

I was just amazed at how well it was able to categorize the information into subjective, objective, assessment, and plan.

I gave Rheo verbal prompts like, “Here are my objective findings” or “Here’s my plan,” and it sorted everything accordingly.

Even when there were a few redundancies, like the same phrase showing up in both the objective and assessment, it didn’t take much to clean up. I could retain the core of the note without major edits. Rheo captured the full story.

Dictation was a start, but the lapel mic changed everything

At first, I was dictating after the fact. It worked, but it didn’t feel efficient enough for long-term use. Then at ChiroFest, I had an idea. “What if I clipped the microphone on my lapel during the exam and just recorded the entire conversation with the patient?”

So I did. And it worked like a charm. That new workflow let me stay fully present with my patient and review a complete SOAP note minutes later.

“Even when I reviewed the note, I wasn’t going to change much. Rheo made it simple.”

That’s when I knew: This was something different.

Rheo protects your patient connection

We’ve all experienced that tension between documenting and being present. We want to make eye contact. We want to build rapport. But sometimes the iPad won’t connect, the server is slow, the Bluetooth keyboard drops. It’s frustrating.

No more frustration with servers or iPads. Rheo lets me keep eye-to-eye contact while still capturing everything.

That’s one of the things I appreciate most. My patients didn’t even notice a difference. It was just me, them, and the care I was providing—only now, Rheo was in the background doing the work for me.

Personal injury cases, macros, and the power of accurate storytelling

For a chiropractor, especially when dealing with personal injury cases, the ability to accurately document nuanced details like vehicle speed, point of impact, or head position matters. I used to write those down on paper during exams and input them later… if the iPad worked. If the server connected. If I didn’t run out of time.

Rheo changes that.

Now, I can dictate those key details right into the system, even if I’m not connected to the server at the time. It takes three minutes, tops.

I’ve also developed a specific SOAP note style over the years, macros I’ve fine-tuned so the narrative is legally defensible and clinically accurate.

There was nothing on there where I thought, ‘If I don’t change this, I won’t understand the story later.’

And that’s huge. Because our notes are more than boxes to check. They’re the story of the care we provide. And stories matter—especially in healthcare.

Peer-to-peer proof at ChiroFest

At ChiroFest, I got the chance to demonstrate Rheo for other doctors. We did role-playing exercises where attendees acted as patients, and I used Rheo live to build the notes in real time.

That experience helped me learn faster and gave others a real-world look at what’s possible.

I saw quickly that this was a way I could bring value. Rheo is unlocking possibilities for chiropractors.

Seeing other doctors’ lightbulb moments reminded me how important it is for us to be open to innovation, not for the sake of change, but for the efficiency, accuracy, and freedom it can create in our daily work.

For those who are hesitant about AI

I get it. We’ve all heard the fears.

“AI is going to replace us.”
“It won’t understand the nuance of patient care.”
“It’s just one more thing to learn.”

But I’d say this: It’s not if, but when. Rheo helps us be more efficient, more effective, and focus on what we do best, taking care of people.

My grandfather used to say, “If I knew they were going to invent calculators, I wouldn’t have learned how to add.” Rheo feels like that kind of moment in our field.

Some of us will dive right in. Others will dip a toe and test the waters. Either way is okay. But we owe it to our patients and to ourselves to at least explore how these tools can work with us, not against us.

Final thoughts: Rheo doesn’t replace you. It supports you.

Rheo isn’t trying to be the doctor. It’s not trying to make decisions for you. It’s trying to give you your time back.

To support your workflow, not disrupt it.
To help you document the story, not rewrite it.
To protect your connection with the patient, not replace it.

And honestly, it’s like the assistant I’ve always wanted but never had the budget or consistency to hire.

If you’re on the fence, my advice is simple: Try it. Start small. See what happens.

You might just find what I did: a smarter, simpler way to practice the way you’ve always wanted to.
