Here it is, the answer to one of the most common questions by chiropractors. Are you ready? The simple truth is, it’s value of product!

What is value? Value is a person’s perception of the importance or priority of your product. It is not the perception of importance or your service!

The difference here is 180 degrees on the other side of the universe and it is a tough lesson to learn because it is a distinction that needs to be experienced a few 100, or for some, a few thousand times and not everyone gets it.

Over the years in consulting with chiropractors, a common question is whether or not to add or bring in another service. This may include massage therapy, physical therapy, acupuncture, nutritional programs, etc… After 20 years of practicing and working at many offices, I now know for certain it is a distraction and nothing more. Let me ask you a question. You are visiting the dentist and during the visit the doctor asks you about anti-oxidants and if you've had your level checked. Or he asks you about having a massage to help with stress or tension.

Strap on your philosophy helmet cause here we go! Primordial Subluxation as described by BJ Palmer explained all the problems of man. I find this term as important and insightful now as it was in BJ’s time and believe it’s meaning and intention to be more accurate with every year of life I experience.

In discussing Primordial Subluxation I ask you for some latitude in that I am going to share some of my personal opinions.

Primordial simply means in the beginning. Subluxation on the other hand has become a word with many meanings as well as a word that does not exist to some, even to my spell check on this laptop. So, here I want to use the Latin; sub- meaning less or below, -tion; meaning the presence of, and lux- meaning divine or enlightenment. So the word subluxation itself means you are expressing less enlightenment or intelligence!

These words were written thousands of years before chiropractic but they represent our purpose and define our objective more clearly than any words written before or since. It is your purpose to save their life and the life of their family and everyone else they know one person at a time. As I continue on this journey I am more convinced today that we chiropractors are the last true hope for the people we serve. It is our vision on health and the choices we offer our patient’s that will save their lives. I am also convinced that all of us need to do a better job. We need to get serious and start working together if we are ever to change the paradigm of those we care for. How do we start such a large and what seems impossible task? One person, one patient, one life at a time.
